Computing Lock Screen
A calm, system-style “this computer is running a job” screen for when long jobs run unattended.
- Keeps your jobs running. Covers every monitor and keeps the computer awake while builds, training or downloads continue in the background.
- Tells people to stay away. A plain, serious notice: don't touch, turn off or unplug it, and activity is recorded. Nothing playful to poke at.
- Knows if someone tried. Optional camera, keyboard and mouse detection, with snapshots that delete themselves and a summary when you return.
- Password unlock. Your password is remembered between sessions. Wrong attempts are logged and never lock you out.
Features
- Lock screen
- A calm, system-style notice on every monitor: what not to do, how long the job has run, your note, and that activity is recorded. Always on top while background programs keep running. The title and message can be changed.
- Password unlock
- The password is stored as a PBKDF2 hash. Wrong attempts are logged but never lock you out.
- Camera detection
- Optional: check interval, sensitivity and face detection, with snapshots saved when something is detected. Snapshots are deleted automatically 24 hours after the session by default, even if the app is closed.
- Keyboard and mouse
- Activity is detected and reported at most once every 3 seconds.
- Blocks shortcuts
- Windows: Win key, Alt+Tab, Alt+Esc and Alt+F4. Linux X11: all window-manager shortcuts.
- Stays awake
- Prevents sleep and the display from turning off while locked.
- Settings
- One short window before locking: your note, a remembered password and on/off switches. English and 中文.
- Summary
- Shows what happened while you were away after you unlock; logs are kept in a logs folder.
- Limits
- Ctrl+Alt+Del on Windows and Ctrl+Alt+F1–F12 on Linux cannot be blocked by any program, so treat it as a “don't touch” sign, not a security lock.
Installing
- Windows
- Put the .exe in its own folder and double-click it. If SmartScreen appears, choose More info → Run anyway. The camera version is larger (about 61 MB). To update, replace the old .exe and keep config.json.
- Linux
- Put the file in its own folder, then
chmod +x ComputingLock && ./ComputingLock. Use an X11 session for full protection.
